Fortress Completes the Operational Field Evaluation (OFE) of its FR-200 Liquid Concentrate Fire Retardant

Missoula, MT. – the Operational Field Evaluation (OFE) of FORTRESS® FR-200 has successfully concluded, poising FR-200 for imminent approval by the United States Forest Service (USFS). FR-200 is the third product in the FORTRESS fire retardant portfolio to complete all USFS product qualification testing, complimenting FORTRESS’ current offering of aerial dry powder long term fire retardant (FR-100) and ground-applied liquid fire retardant (FR-600).

Ronan Fortress Aerial Fire Retardant Drop

Prior to field evaluation, FR-200 passed all laboratory testing required by the USFS, demonstrating the product’s safety, efficacy, and suitability for use in aerial wildfire combat. According to official Forest Service qualification data, FR-200 has the lowest aquatic toxicity rating of any aerial fire retardant on the Forest Service’s Qualified Products List (QPL) and best-in-class anti-corrosion characteristics.

Full qualification of FR-200 is now dependent on the conclusion of the biological opinion of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which was due December 31, 2021 and should be delivered shortly.

Upon approval, FR-200 will be the first fully qualified liquid concentrate long-term fire retardant that features the unique and innovative chemistry of FORTRESS fire retardants.
