SUMMARY

The Airbase Regional Lead (ARL) will work directly with the supervision of Regional Managers.  This responsibility of this position is to help oversee Fortress NA State and Federal contracts for fixed and portable retardant bases and equipment.

All work to Full-Service and Bulk Air Tanker Bases will comply with all State and Federal contract requirements pertaining to the supply of Fortress NA products and equipment.  This work will be conducted in a professional, safe and efficient manner.  The ARL must maintain compliance with all Federal (OSHA) and State Environmental Regulations pertaining to CAL-Fire and United States Forest Service (USFS) requirements. The ARL will provide support as directed by the Regional Manager.

  • Airbase Regional Lead  will complete all Full-Service/Bulk Base Procedures involving maintenance, repairs and winterization of equipment.
  • Airbase Regional Lead  will manage all personnel to ensure contacts at USFS, BLM (Bureau of Land Management) and Cal-Fire locations are properly executed.
  • Maintain and Monitor Base Budgets (Payroll/Inventory/Consumables)
  • Oversee the mixing, inspecting, testing, storing, and delivery of all fire retardants/products when the Base Manager (BM) is not present.
  • Manage the loading/offloading of retardant and water into aircraft and ground vehicles.
  • Maintain logs for maintenance, safety, gallons and training.
  • Ensure all base operations are compliant with all agency requirements and those of OSHA @ CALOSHA.
  • Verify the Air Tanker Base maintains the Company Business Plan following regulations.
  • Traveling to Lead Mobile Retardant Bases (MRBs) as required
  • Capable of Managing an Airtanker Base showing strong customer service skills and meeting all contract requirements
  • Conduct Duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED/College Degree +
  • Minimum of 2 years Mixing (Liquid and/or Powder Retardant Products)
  • Federal/State/Contractor Fire Experience+
  • Minimum of 2 years of Contractor or Federal/State Tanker Base Management
  • Strong mechanical aptitude desired
  • CDL Certification desired

Computer Skills:

  • Microsoft Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to create documents in Microsoft word or a similar software
  • Insperity Payroll System
  • Google Suite: Docs, Sheets, Drive, Email, and Calendar.
  • Email: Read, Respond, Scan, attachments
  • Website navigation needed for Daily Task Completion

Physical Demands:

These are the physical demands required.  These represent what is necessary and must be met by an employee in order to perform the job.  Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable those individuals with disabilities to perform essential tasks however those individuals will need to be qualified in all other functions of this position.

  • Moving/Lifting/Bending
  • Lift equipment/Parts for short periods up to  55 lb.
  • Lift Heavier equipment with assistance up to 125 lb.
  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Remain stationary kneeling or crouching for extended periods of time
  • Climb ladders of 6’ or higher
  • Walk Distances greater than 1 mile
  • Hook and Unhook loading valve (45 lbs.) to aircraft numerous times per shift.

Work Environment and Additional Physical Demands and Hazards:

  • Work in extreme heat and high Temperatures Daily
  • Working near hazardous exposures such as equipment, fire and aircraft.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes (hydrocarbon) and airborne particulates
  • Occasional exposure to wet and humid locations
  • Risk potential to electrical shock
  • High noise levels in some locations. Hearing protection provided.
